yet another gorgeous release from alice simmard. this release to me explores a dreamier and otherworldly mindscape, as if rotting in your bed in the dark, and you can see nothing but the dark swirls of your mind above you. that isnt to say your mind is ugly, quite the opposite. your mind is broken yet beautiful, tragically pretty. this release feels like a stifled sob. the melodies are a desperate cry that has given up. the screams and "sweet" vocals are dichotomic portrayals of the self. these vocals are a staple in coffret de bijoux's music and to me they represent two parts of the self; different yet still of the same self. i appreciate this release for portraying something more "bedroom" (that is, the image of becoming lost in your own mind).
